Hitting the market on 14th April 2022, this is a traditional 5×3 reel with 10 fixed paylines and a declared low Volatility. Interestingly, Chicken Chase comes with three different RTPs ranging from 96.48% to 94.55%. Pragmatic Play, being one of the most well-received studios in the online gambling sphere, did a moderately good job here which, simply owing to the branding, will certainly find a lot many appreciations once released. The fact that it is a UKGC and MGA-approved studio with businesses spread across 20 jurisdictions is something that has to be reckoned with. Pragmatic Play, as of now, has a pretty robust portfolio that contains a couple of hundred entries ranging from HTML5-based slots to live casinos and bingos. With guaranteed support for more than 31 languages and all the major currencies, there is no visible reason why Chicken Chase won’t delight betters the way all Pragmatic Play offerings do.

Theme & Design

Chicken Chase Slot Look & Feel

Thematically, Chicken Chase does justice to the genre conventions as it amasses a lot of credible work in designing the UI. The plot, to be honest, is infantile which may cause pro players to disengage with it after some time. But I personally never give much thought to it because I am in slots mainly for the in-game features. All I need is the thematic coordinates placed properly so that I can navigate this universe in a meaningful way. This Chicken Chase does it in a commendable way. You get chickens, vile wolves, a farm setting with a barn, a windmill, all replicated quite authentically. The horizon is made prominent by lofty mountaintops whereas the atmosphere is beset by a setting sun.

Bottom line, Pragmatic Play largely compensates for the amateur plotline by making the theme as attractive as it can get through its impeccable design finesse. Pro players can discern similarities between this one and slots from studios like Hacksaw Gaming, Peter & Sons etcetera given how deftly the latter present plots that are built around the theme of enmity rather innocently.

Game Features, Symbols & Rules

Chicken Chase’s aural design is delectable as well as instrumental in filling gaps in the storyline. The soundtrack has qualities of saloon music and oompah all mixed in it. If I have not put it emphatically already let me do it now, the color reproduction is really good in Chicken Chase. Bright color choices, combined with the jaunty audio design, certainly get under your skin at some point as you partake in the fun-filled game of chase. As far as factors such as fonts, control panels are concerned there is nothing novel about them except the fact that design-wise they appear organic to the theme.

Moving on to the game features, I hope you have guessed already that Chicken Chase doesn’t go overboard from any probable angle here. The first indicator of that is the slot’s low volatility coupled with the fact that the RTP can get as low as 94.55% here. Consisting of 10 symbols, the 10 fixed paylines slot has the highest return of 210x the bet amount. I will provide you with the paytable in a jiffy but first, let’s take a look at what features Chicken Chase brings to the table:

  • Wild

One of the 10 symbols is that of the blue wolf which functions as the wild. Wild can appear anywhere in the reels and can replace any of the regular paying symbols. Moreover, landing wilds come with their own payouts details which I will include in the paytable.

  • Spin and Hold

My tryst with online slots tells me that this feature still feels an obscure one because despite its lure not many slot games offer Spin and Hold. Once you avail of the feature, you will get a guaranteed respin each time you fail to land five of any kind of regular paying symbols. You can thus get another opportunity to hit a five-of-a-kind win. But wait, things are more exciting here than this. After you opt for a respin, there are two options that you have to consider. One, either you take the charge and decide which reel you are willing to hold for the respin. Two, contrarily, you let the slot make that decision for you. You nonetheless get the opportunity to discard the latter decision in this case. Note that respins are not paid spins as they deduct nothing from your coffer.

  • Pick and Win Bonus Round

Chicken Chase features a bonus symbol in the form of a golden egg. Once you land 3 or more of these golden eggs, you trigger the pick and win bonus round. What follows is a game of arbitrary choice where the right choice gets rewarded with an instant prize. Players are invited to choose between four chickens and that’s about it. You get an additional reward too depending on how many of the bonus symbols did you land to trigger the round. The calculation is as follows:

3 bonus symbols2x, 4x, 12x, 50x the bet
4 bonus symbols4x, 8x, 24x, 100x the bet
5 bonus symbols6x, 12x, 36x, 150x the bet

It should not be a matter of dispute then that the bonus round can be a real game-changer for players who are in it for the cash.

What are the Chicken Chase RTP & Variance?

The Chicken Chase RTP is estimated at 96.48%. The Chicken Chase variance is low to medium.

What symbols to look out for in the Chicken Chase Paytable?

Chicken Chase Paytable

Now, instead of familiarizing you with the game symbols and thus launching a separate discussion, here, I am including the paytable of Chicken Chase so you get to know not only the symbols but their payouts as well as combinations.

Blue WolfX50X100X200

So this is as far as the rules of Chicken Chase go. Notice that there are 8 regular symbols in the game barring the blue wolf which acts as the Wild. Among these 8 are 3 high-paying symbols, rooster, turkey, and chicken, and 5 low-paying ones, pepper, aubergine, broccoli, strawberry, and the BAR symbol. But things change once you land Wilds in the given combo because then it becomes the highest paying symbol.

Identifying the pros and cons of a given slot is always difficult for a reviewer as this is the place where his analysis tends to become subjective. During my stay with Chicken Chase, it got quite clear to me that the game is built for instant gratification and holds therefore no higher aspiration. The bottom line, it does not attempt to be a timeless entertainer. I, therefore, liked the fact that Chicken Chase kind of does justice to its professed limited scope. On the other hand, I have my own share of grudges too. The max win could have been more than 2,100x the bet and there could have been more in-game features. This Chicken Chase could have been offered without stretching its scope further.

My impression is that Chicken Chase is a crowd-pleaser and an excellent one at that. The part of the story which has already been told is how its pleasure will wear off pretty soon once one starts playing it. The reasons, as I have enumerated in the Cons section already, are more than one and quite legitimate. Legitimate because, as I have argued already, Chicken Chase seems to be engaging in forced navel-gazing which does not have to be the case.

But the other part of the story has to contend with the fact that the online slot from Pragmatic Play possesses its own set of queerness making it an on/off phenomenon. Betters will certainly appreciate its superior design along with the range of features it has. For real bettors who are the cautious types a flexible and modest bet limit of $/€/£ 0.10 to $/€/£ 50 will surely be good news. Last but not the least, unlike the HyperSpins, a feature from Microgaming, the spin and hold feature here can be used more than once without witnessing an increase in cost. All in all, Chicken Chase might not be spectacular but it is not demanding either.
